Polychrome Zuni Water Jar with Vertical Flower/Deer/House/Rainbirds
Around 1850's, the rather conservative style of Kiapkwa Polychrome changed rapidly to the exuberant design style that characterizes Zuni Polychrome pottery. This new works contains a narrow panel flower design common in the 1800's along with the deer in the house motifs. There are 8 of them with the deer heart lined. Along the middle band, 6 yellow ochre painted rain birds going around the middle band. On the top neck area, abstract rain birds along with the depiction of rain are represented along with the double life-line on the center of the water jar, Etched on bottom, Paloma, 2/2022,
